Safety Tips

We are committed to promoting safe and responsible fireworks use.

All fireworks sold at Pyro City fall under the consumer firework category and meet all Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations. Using fireworks as labeled ensures a safe and enjoyable celebration and prevents the improper use of fireworks, which can lead to accidents, injury, and possibly death.

Celebrate Safely with Pyro City

As proud supporters of the American Pyrotechnics Safety and Education Foundation, Pyro City wants you to always act responsibly, be safe, and stay legal when celebrating with fireworks. Use these easy-to-follow safety tips, informative content, and instructional videos so you can “Celebrate Safely” this holiday season.

Fireworks Safety Tips:

1. Obey Local Laws: Ensure that you are aware of and comply with your local laws regarding the purchase and use of fireworks.

2. Buy from Reliable Sources: Purchase fireworks only from reputable and licensed sellers. Avoid buying illegal or homemade fireworks.

3. Read and Follow Instructions: Carefully read and follow the instructions on each firework. Pay attention to recommended safety distances and guidelines.

4. Use Open Space: Light fireworks in a clear, open area away from buildings, trees, and flammable materials. Ensure there is plenty of space for the fireworks to launch and fall safely.

5. Keep Water Handy: Have a bucket of water, hose, or fire extinguisher nearby to quickly extinguish any potential fires. Also, consider having a first aid kit on hand.

6. Designate a Sober Adult: Choose one responsible, sober adult to handle the fireworks. This person should not consume alcohol or drugs while lighting fireworks.

7. Supervise Children: Children should never handle fireworks. Ensure that they are supervised at all times and maintain a safe distance from the fireworks.

8. Safe Distance: All spectators should remain a safe distance away from where the firework is being lit.

9. Dispose of Properly: Dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before placing them in a metal trash bin away from structures. Warning: Do not throw them in the trash while they are still hot.

10. Pets and Wildlife: Keep pets indoors and away from the fireworks to prevent them from becoming frightened or injured. Steer clear of using fireworks near wildlife habitats.

11. Check Local Conditions: Be mindful of weather conditions. Strong winds can affect the trajectory of fireworks, increasing the risk of accidents.

12. Emergency Preparedness: Know the local emergency services contact number and be prepared to use it if necessary.

13. Never Experiment: Do not attempt to make your own fireworks or modify existing ones. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions strictly.

Be Safe. Stay Legal. Act Responsibly.
